Epson is proud to introduce its first cotton paper for the desktop market velvet fine art paper. This is the type of paper you probably think of when you think of lab prints. While weight is just one measure of a paper s resilience and usefulness for fine art printing it can also have an effect on how that paper is handled depending on the printer.
With a base that is 100 cotton rag buffered and acid free this paper is coated with our popular enhanced matte coating giving exceptional color gamut and high d max. However be sure to print on the correct side. The surface is not glossy but it s also not matte. A smooth satin surface on 100 percent cotton fiber acid and lignin free and ph buffered with a weight of 314 gsm.
I would describe it as having fairly minimal shine showing great contrast and excellent blacks. In the case of red river s polar matte magna which is a 96 lb 320 gsm stock it means working with individual sheet feeding rather than with a stack loader in. All four are 314 gsm weight and range between 12 and 20 mil thickness depending on the paper type. The paper shows color well and photos look crisp. All four papers have a nice full bodied fine art feel and aren t fragile to handle say compared with the thinner stock such as epson s ulta premium photo paper luster or canon s pro luster pro. The paper has all the fine art specs.
